Tetsonot is pod number 6. It's located underwater off the eastern coast of the island continent of Cheecho. Judging by the sounds from its recordings, it was probably meant to be an observation platform for animals similar to Earth whales and dolphins. However, sometime in the past, the pod suffered a system failure that allowed a large amount of seawater into the pod.
There is a leak in the pod that permits a slow trickle of water, but so far the pumps built into it can keep up. The water in the bottom of the pod gets no deeper, although the pumps can't remove what is already there. The defoggers for the windows are also broken, so turning on the power does not clear them and make the outside visible anymore.
Since it's a deep sea post, it can be safely assumed that there is little if any light outside the pod, and its flood lamps were probably the only source available. However, the pod interior has deep red lighting, which may mean that the animals outside were bioluminescent, and the visitor's eyes needed to be accustomed to darkness to see them properly. Red light does not affect night vision, and so is used to illuminate areas when retaining night vision is desirable. Military flashlights have red lenses for just this reason.
This picture shows the pod with just the standard emergency lights on, when I had just arrived.
This picture shows the standard lights turned on after I threw the main power switch.
The pod's electrical system has been affected by the seawater covering the bottom of it. The lights flicker and cut out frequently.
The pod tends to groan and make other noises that leave no doubt that you are under a great deal of outside water pressure. Visiting the pod is always a nerve-wracking experience.
Here is the floor hatch of the pod, showing the knee deep seawater over it.
