Lord Rakeri, who may have been named after the seventeenth king of D'ni, was one of the five Great Lords of D'ni in the decades leading up to the Fall.

Prior to becoming a lord, Rakeri was the Grandmaster of the Guild of Miners. He owned K'veer, which was one of many privately owned islands. His son, Veovis, had rose on his own merits to become a master in the Guild of Writers. Rakeri owned six private Ages, including one called Nidur Gemat.

He became friends with Aitrus after he saved Veovis' life during an earthquake that struck the Great Shaft's opening ceremony. He even offered to become Aitrus's patron, although Aitrus decided not to take him up on it.

In Rakeri's later years, he contracted an illness and was unable to attend to his duties as a Great Lord. More and more, his son Veovis had to fill in for him. Veovis in the meanwhile became involved with a man named A'gaeris, who secretly framed him for murder and other serious crimes.

Lord Rakeri died in AD 1737, and in the same hour that the Great Bell in Ae'gura rang to announce his passing, Veovis was sentenced to life in a Prison Age.
