She narrowed her eyes before entering the pool to wash herself, simply not trusting the half-inhuman… boy… not to walk into the clearing to peek on her.
She shivered from the cold, wrapping a towel around herself as a last resort from the inevitable peeping, or worse, and sighed, allowing the frigid waters to swirl around her. "Stupid…" she muttered. Glancing around and adjusting her glasses as they slipped.
"HEY!" The exclamation rang out, followed by a gigantic splash.
On her feet in an instant, she marched towards the source of the exclamation, ready to mete out feminine fury on her target, only to pause, recognizing her target. "Oh," she said, frowning. "I thought you were him."
The little girl laughed, splashing wildly, and shook her head. "Nope!"
Strained, sore, and tired from the unfamiliarity of walking for days on end, she asked, "Keitaro?"
He glanced over to her for a moment, his tufted ears twitching slightly. "Yeah?" he responded, effecting to be unconcerned.
"Why do you want it?"
It. There was no reason to name it, since they both knew… but she still couldn't completely fathom why he was searching. "Because…" he said slowly, looking away, "because of a promise."
She blinked, wondering. "A promise?"
He jerked his head in a nod, still looking away moodily. "Yeah, I promised… someone that I'd go… go together with her. Why?"
She forced back a laugh. "Is the Shikon-no-tama-chan powerful enough to get you into Todai?"

I think this is Carlos's fault, but probably, really, just everyone at Foothill Anime.
